Now you spend more time in front of the mirror, than you used to before pregnancy. And you like yourself. You belly is perfect, it’s just the masterpiece! Learn to control your weight and remain pretty and healthy as well.
Have you begun to gain weight? And do you become plumper not only in the waist area? That’s normal. But in case you gain weight too quickly, you should think of a special diet. Your and your baby’s conditions depend on it. In order to feel yourself sprightly and full of energy all nine months long, and in order to deliver a healthy child, you should eat products, useful for both of you. Remember: you will need additional vitamins, minerals and proteins, but never additional calories (you should receive no more than 300 “extra” calories a day now).

 It is a normal phenomenon, if your weight changes both ways during pregnancy. If you gained all 24 pounds by the 6th month, do not make any attempt to stop gaining more and do not try to lose your weight. In case if you will not nourish correctly, it may be injurious to both – you and your little one. Do you underweight? Look carefully through your diet again. If by the 20th week you gained less than 10 pounds, than you should eat more cooked fish, meat, cereals. But never make yourself to eat something, if you don’t want it. Keep to a well – balanced diet. You and your baby should receive all vitamins and minerals.

 Still, how many pounds can we gain during pregnancy? Let’s see how much or a “not extra” weight is there:
• Your baby – about 6 pounds;
• Your uterus – 2 pounds;
• Placenta – about 1,3 pounds;
• Your breast – about 1,5 pounds;
• Amniotic fluid – 2 pounds;
• Fat – about 6,5 pounds.

 Now let us count how much weight it would be ideally for you to gain: calculate your Body Mass Index (BMI) before pregnancy. To do it, you divide your weight (measured in kilo
grams) into your height (measured in square meters). Then use the table:

Weight Deficiency  BMI less than 19,8 kg (43,5 pounds) + 12,5 – 19 kg (27,5 – 41,8 pounds)
 Ideal Weight BMI 19,8 – 26 kg (43,5 – 57,3 pounds) + 11 – 16 kg (24,3 – 35,2 pounds)
 Acceptable Overweight BMI 26 – 29 kg (57,3 – 64 pounds) + 7 – 12 kg (15,4 – 26,5 pounds)
 Not Acceptable Overweight BMI more than 29 kg (64 pounds) + 6 kg (13,2 pounds)

It is important to weigh at the same time of the day and wearing the same clothes.
