| Increase Your Chance of Having Twins | Eat yams and dairy. There exist some cultures, which have more twins than other nations in the world. Actually, the Yoruba tribe, from West Africa, has more multiple births rate than all the other nationalities. Their mothers’ diet consists of a lot of cassava, which is a type of yam or sweet potato. According to the theory, the peeling from this kind of vegetables contains some chemical substance, which causes hyperovulation, thus helping these women deliver more twins. Moreover, a 2006 study found, that if a woman consumes a lot of dairy, she is five times as likely to deliver twins, triplets or quadruplets.
Be breastfeeding when you get pregnant.
According to some recent investigations, if you are breastfeeding, and get pregnant during this time of your life, you have more chances to deliver more than one baby at a time. The reason of it is considered to be the depletion of calcium in your system during the process of breastfeeding, and it also affects the egg’s dividing during the ovulation and conception.
Be older when you get pregnant. It is considered that the older is the woman, the more chances she has to conceive twins or more babies than her younger counterparts are. The reason of it may be the body’s accelerating the ovulation process because the woman’s biological clock begins to tick faster. An older woman may either have several ovulation during the same menstrual cycle, or several eggs released during one ovulation. According to the statistical data, seventeen percent of mothers, who are older than 45, have multiples. If you wait five more years, you will have one chance to deliver twins, triples or even more babies at one time will become one in nine. But you are to be aware, that older mothers risk more as well, and not only their health and life is at risk of some complications, but their babies are at much more higher risk of any chromosomal disorder as well.
Be a twin. It has been discovered, that twins have a higher rate of delivering twins or triplets themselves. Have a family history of twins. Are there any twins, triplets or quadruplets in your family, mostly from your mother’s relatives’ side? If the answer is “YES”, your chance to deliver several babies at a time gets increased. If rely on your family history, you will most likely deliver dizygotic or fraternal babies, rather than monozygotic or identical ones. This is because of your family’s reproductive systems’ ability to release more than one egg during the process of ovulation.
Be a certain ethnicity. Interesting it is, but the rate of delivery of twins, triplets, etc is much higher in African Americans, than in other ethnicities.
