Quantitative Blood Test detects the absence or presence of pregnancy by measuring the amount of HCG in the woman’s bloodstream. Having conducted it, it also becomes possible to know how far the woman is in her pregnancy.

Qualitative Blood Test detects the absence or presence of pregnancy by indicating the existence of HCG in the blood of a woman. However it does not measure the level of the HCG, it only gives a “YES” or “NO” answer to the woman.

Every blood test is to be performed by a gynecologist either in an office or in a clinic. The very procedure of the blood pregnancy test conducting is just the same as a simple blood test. 

Here comes the step – by – step guide of how to conduct a blood pregnancy test.
 Step 1st. A spot on your arm is cleaned with alcohol;
 Step 2nd. A needle is inserted into the spot on your arm;
 Step 3rd. Some amount of blood is drawn from the needle into a special little tube for an analysis.
 Step 4th. The tube, filled with blood is sent to the laboratory in order to conduct the testing. As a rule it takes approximately two days to obtain the blood pregnancy test’s results.

The Advantages of the Blood Pregnancy Tests
Any blood pregnancy test (either qualitative or quantitative) can detect pregnancy earlier then urine tests;
Performing the quantitative blood test, it is possible to get to know the amount of the HCG, present in the blood of a pregnant woman, thus it helps to know the term of pregnancy more exactly and it helps to monitor the healthy of the early pregnancy.

The Disadvantages of the Blood Pregnancy Tests
Any blood pregnancy test is more expensive, than urine pregnancy tests;
It usually takes longer to get the result from the blood pregnancy test (about a day or even to), comparing to the home urine pregnancy tests (the result of which takes no more than ten minutes);
There is no privacy in performing the blood pregnancy test, as it is to be done either in the doctor’s office or in the laboratory conditions.
